Captain Daniel Powell is the owner and operator of Badfish Fishing Charters, proudly based in the coastal town of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. His deep connection to these waters began early in life and has grown into a full-time career rooted in skill, dedication, and a genuine passion for fishing. With an intimate understanding of the local ecosystem and the species that call it home, Captain Daniel offers a level of knowledge that only comes from years of time spent on the water.
Daniel’s career started as a mate on a local charter boat, where he quickly developed a strong foundation in customer-focused fishing. His path eventually led him to commercial Grouper fishing, where he sharpened his technical skills and deepened his understanding of offshore tactics. After earning his captain’s license, he returned to the charter side of the industry, combining his commercial experience with a personal approach to recreational fishing trips.
Captain Daniel brings a wide range of techniques to the table, allowing him to adapt to changing conditions and client preferences. Whether it’s bottom fishing for Snapper and Grouper, trolling for pelagics, jigging, or running light tackle setups, he has the tools and experience to make the most of each trip. His repertoire also includes spinning, drift fishing, deep sea fishing methods, kite fishing, and handline approaches. Every outing is shaped by a balance of efficiency, safety, and enjoyment for everyone onboard.
Badfish Fishing Charters operates a 26' C-Hawk Pilothouse, a reliable and comfortable vessel ideal for both inshore and offshore trips. Built in 1987 and thoughtfully restored in 2019, the boat combines classic design with modern features. Powered by twin 150HP Yamaha engines, it cruises confidently at speeds up to 40 knots. With space for up to 5 guests, it offers a stable platform for a productive day on the water, whether you're heading nearshore or exploring deeper territory.
